Teaching Practice:
A Great Beginning with PowerPoint (TM): Exploring Lemony Snicket's Books

INTRODUCTION

I am a fourth grade teacher at South Miami Elementary School. I earned my National Board Certification in the Middle Childhood/Generalist Certificate area in 1999. My school is a magnet school for the performing arts. In addition to their academic classes, students attend classes in music, fine arts, drama, and dance during the school day. I have twenty-four students in my class: 14 are of Hispanic descent, four are African-American, andsix6 are non-Hispanic White.

We have a new computer lab in our school with 30 Compaq PC computers. All classrooms have new computers and T1 internet connections. Computer lab time is scheduled for each classroom and we use it to our advantage as much as possible.
