Teaching Practice:
Properties, Properties

INTRODUCTION

I am a first grade teacher at Glade Elementary School in Walkersville, Maryland. I earned my National Board Certification in the Early Childhood/Generalist certification area in 2000. I have 23 students in my class, 12 girls and 11 boys. Three of my students are special education students. My students remain with me for all subjects except art, music and physical education.

Glade Elementary is seven years old. The school has a K-5 program with approximately 600 students. The school is located next to a historical farm in Frederick County. The farm grounds are a great site for field trips. There is an old farm house students can visit to see how people lived in the “olden days.” The farm grounds are often used by the community for picnics and ball games.
