Teaching Practice:
Patterns

INTRODUCTION

I am a kindergarten teacher at Medart Elementary School in Wakulla County, Florida. I achieved National Board Certification in the Early Childhood/Generalist Certificate area in 2000.

Medart Elementary is a public school in a rural community south of Tallahassee. We serve children in grades K-5. My school qualifies for Title I funding since approximately 50% of the students receive free or reduced-price lunches.

My full-day kindergarten class has 21 students. The students rotate through seven different centers each day: Play, Reading, Computers, Language, Math, Art/Science, and Writing. I integrate the development of language and mathematical concepts with science, art, music and movement.
