Concept Mapping with Inspiration Software

Students used Inspiration to make concept maps. Each group designed a concept map explaining their concept. As the students learned more about the topics, maps were edited and updated.
  
Students Completed Questioning Guides

Students needed to think out what they wanted to ask experts. We worked on the concept of using the expert's time wisely. Thus, not wasting it with questions that we could answer with simple research!
  
Photography Planning Guide

Students had to plan and predict what types of pictures they would need to take while at Rush Ranch. This helped them remember all the small, important pictures that the excitement of the trip might have allowed them to forget.
  
Students Interview the Blacksmith

The students emailed letters to the blacksmith asking him to open the shop for a demonstration. The students were able to see the blacksmith in action, take pictures, have the high school students film the interview, and take notes on their questioning sheet.
  
AlphaSmarts Save the Day!

AlphaSmart
By using AlphaSmarts, students used the computer lab only for final editing and revising. This allowed students to type information in the classroom using AlphaSmarts on the desktops. We transfered the information to the computer and edited in Microsoft Word!

Students Create Project Boards to Share With the Community

Students chose topics about the local community and design boards and projects to present to the class and to the community.

This student create a tule reed boat and a board explaining the boat building process.
  
Poster Creation - Preserving Wetland Animal Habitats

Student groups summarized their Essential Question answer on a poster before adding their comments to the web site. Students also had to illustrate the image and add a clear heading.
